SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 23

Tomblin, Mr. President)
Congratulating the national 4-H Club on its 100th anniversary in
2002.

Whereas, The goals of 4-H participation are to improve life
skills, wisdom and attitudes that will further enable youth to
become better citizens; and

Whereas, West Virginia's first 4-H cooperative was founded in
Monroe County in 1909; and

Whereas, West Virginia leaders have recognized the outstanding
attributes of the development of the mind, the spirit, the body and
one's skills, commonly referred to as the 4-Hs of the Head, Heart,
Health and Hands of a community leader; and

Whereas, The 4-H Club is continuing its expansion to include
topical subjects such as teen leadership, child care and aerospace
studies; therefore, be it

Resolved by the Senate:

That the Senate hereby congratulates the national 4-H Club on
the occasion of its 100th anniversary; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward
a copy of this resolution to the appropriate individuals associated
with the 4-H Club.
